Youth Festival is an unparalleled cultrual rite of passage for the young musicians of the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestras.  Now in its 29th year, Youth Festival unites these accomplished young musicians of tomorrow with renowned musicians of today from the Charlotte Symphony.  Together, the generations share the stage of the Knight Theater in a showcase of outstanding classical music.
The evening features four segments:
  • The Junior Youth Orchestra performs
  • The Charlotte Symphony (CSO)accompanies the Grand Prize winner of the senior division of the Annual Young Artists Competition under the direction of Maestro Christopher Warren-Green
  • The Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO) performs with Dr. Ernest Pereira, Conductor
  • The CSYO and the CSO, 190 musicians strong, perform side by side in the grand finale
Children are the focus, not only on the stage, but also in the audience.  Through the Guild's sponsorship and other generous contributions from the community, children from various organizations throughout the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area are able to attend the performance.  For many, it is their first time to attend a concert, and Youth Festival helps foster their appreciation of music.
