Tuition Assistance

 

The Symphony Guild also provides grants to assist Youth Symphony members with annual tuition costs.  The general guideline for awarding a tuition grant is an annual gross income of less than $50,000 for a family with two dependent children.

PRIVATE STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS:

 

Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra – Need-based

The Guild may provide Financial Aid for Private Study throughout the year. 

 

The general guideline for awarding a financial-need scholarship is an annual gross income of less than $50,000 for a family with two dependent children. 

 

The CSYO award amount assists with 12 weeks of lessons; the JSO award assists with 10 weeks of lessons

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS:

 

2009-10 Marie Rowe Scholar:  VICTORIA PAN

The merit scholar who ranks #1 after auditions is chosen to be the Marie R. Rowe Scholar. The award amount is $100.

2009-10 Betsy Knight Scholarship:  JACOB LAGRONE

The coaches and music director of the CSYO select the recipient of this merit award. The award amount is $350.

2009-10 Meg Hutchins Scholarship:  KATHERINE ELISE TURNER -                                           
Established in 2005, this scholarship fund honors the life and memory of Dr. Meg Hutchins, daughter of Peg and Tom Hutchins. The award amount is $350.

2009-10 Past Presidents’ Scholarship:  JOSHUA CARTER

Funded by monies from the Past Presidents’ Fund, this scholarship award amount is $350. The coaches and music director of the CSYO select a CSYO high school senior who intends to study music at the collegiate or conservatory level for this merit award.

Summer Study Grants

Where funds exist at year end, CSYO and JYO members who plan on attending a summer music festival make application to the Scholarships Committee for full or partial funding of their expenses. Awards are based on merit and financial need.
